LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ – The Litchfield Elementary School District is proud to announce that Belen Soto Elementary School and Verrado Middle School have been named A+ Schools of Excellence® by the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF), the state’s highest honor for public schools.
AEF’s A+ School of Excellence® program recognizes schools that exemplify outstanding leadership, exceptional teaching, rigorous academics, and strong community involvement. Established 42 years ago, the program serves as a model for identifying Arizona schools worthy of national recognition, including the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Award.
Each year, hundreds of schools apply for this prestigious designation, undergoing a competitive selection process that includes an in-depth application, interviews, and on-site evaluations by education professionals. Schools earning the A+ distinction hold the title for four years and take on mentorship roles through AEF’s Principal’s Leadership Academy, helping to develop future school leaders.
“This honor reflects the dedication of our educators, students, and families in creating an engaging and positive learning environment,” said Dr. Carter Davidson, Superintendent of Litchfield Elementary School District. “Belen Soto Elementary and Verrado Middle School have demonstrated excellence in academics and community engagement which have led to incredible student success. We are proud of their achievement.”
